According to the report on Punch News, the Ebonyi state governor also fined the APC 5 million naira for contravening the provisions of the state’s Executive Order 3 of 2022.
It would be recalled that the APC governor had signed an order prohibiting political parties from using critical infrastructures for pasting posters without obtaining clearance from the state.
In a statement provided on Sunday by the Ebonyi state commissioner for Information and Orientation, Uchenna Orji, in Abakaliki, Governor Umahi revealed that he is saddened by the actions of the political parties and that they have been pasting posters on electric poles, meridians, concrete roads, and on flyover bridges.
He said that he decided to fine the APC to serve as deterrent to other political parties that have been making the same mistakes in his state.
The statement patly reads: “When APC flagged off its presidential and governorship campaigns in the state, it littered the infrastructures with posters and that made other political parties to follow suit. The party is thus fined N5 million for contravening the law and the Executive Order.”
The APC must pay the money to the state’s Internally Generated Revenue account and and obtain a receipt. The party should publish the payment in all media platforms including the social media before Dec. 31 or risk paying a default fee of 50 million.”
The Governor, however, revealed that he will not be slaming a fine on the other political parties but that they should remove all their posters from public structures just as he has instructed the APC.
